Where's that pea gone??

A tub of red baron onions needed to be put in the ground which I got done on Saturday Little Tot took a photo of me doing it and photos of lots of other things like the neighbours apple tree. This apple tree produced some nice apples last year its a shame that some annoying man has taken it over. I say annoying because I spent ages trying to get a hose adapter on the tap as my hand just kept hurting and when I popped there tonight he had taken it off.

While weeding a raised bed I found a lonely asparagus I think which is lucky really as thats where I want to put my seed asparagus that has germinated.

Carrots are starting to show, looks like a few parsnips too. Webbs lettuce, little gem and oasis turnips are up. Should have a couple of radishes to eat in a week as they aren't far off. Broad beans are producing pods, photo didn't come out as sun was in the way. I did a second sowing and they are coming up too already.

My peas are coming along brilliantly the funny thing was I took 2 seedlings with me and I planted one and couldn't find the other. I spent ages looking for it but where it went I have no idea. As you can see I have 4 pods forming at the mo.
The spuds are coming up with the Duke of York in the running showing first and one international kidney just coming through.

What a beautiful day.

Popped to the allotment just to do a little an ended up spending 3 hrs doing this and that. It was very nice and relaxing as the children stayed at home the most stressful thing was trying to untangle a net to cover the cauliflowers and cabbages.

The purple sprouting brocolli is on a roll now and producing a nice lot of heads.

I couldn't decide whether to plant my red cabbages and greyhound out as they were doing so well at home in there pots but decided to get them in to make room at home.

Here are the beauties. Just like my cauli's until I plant them at the allotment and something eats them. I really enjoy planting the seed watching it grow but get down hearted when you watch your hard work being eaten away and not by you.

Here they are planted up. Forgot to count how many have gone in.

Here are the poor cauliflowers that have been eaten and not doing very well.

The peas are in flower already but not very high so looks like I may only get one pod per plant haha. We need a good shower of rain really to get the ground soaked and help the plants to grow.

The broad beans are doing very well, touch wood........no black fly yet. Green fly is around had to pull up a cabbage and some PSB as they were covered in it.

Germination has gone swingly all 7 aubergines are up, 3 telegraph cucumbers also trying some crystal apple and crystal lemon this year and one seed has started showing in 1 week. Yellow, bush, plum, moneymaker tomatoes are up. Just the black cherry I have had trouble with. Lots of fennel, patty pan courgette different cabbages are coming along nicely.

Have a good week to all that read. Try and doing something you haven't done for a long time.

Potatoes, spuds, tatties

After all the hard work putting in the potatoes today so we thought we would have chips with fish of course.

Had to get our 2nd earlies Wilja & Nadine and also our main crop of Desiree & King Edward. Hubby rotivated the new plot we took over and I went mad buying 6kgs each of 2nd earlies and main.

Its doesn't look that tidy yet with nice little hills but i'm sure that will come when they start growing.

Got some carrott seed in where the bamboo stick is. In the box at the end I have planted some Little Gem & Webb lettuce with some turnips.

Thanks to Hubby for all his hard work rotivating this weekend and digging the trenches for me for the potatoes saved my hand from playing up.

Some arial pictures of out plot.

Planting out our first earlies pots.

The cabbages/cauliflowers are planted right of the photo only trouble caulis not doing very well keep being eaten so may end up with none. Broad beans and peas behind me and my two lovelies next to me.

First of the potatoes are in on Good Friday

Happy Easter to you all.

Managed to get the rotivator sorted this week after it letting us down last weekend. Hubby rotivated the patch for the potatoes to go in. I strimmed the grass area where we drive down to the plot.

The radishes are showing where I sowed them with the parsnips. The weather must be warm as some parsnips have come up where I had them last year. (opps I left them behind thinking about it).

Our early potatoes Duke of York 28 seed potato and International Kidney 28 seed potato are in.
We first thought we would do the hole method what hard work. Duke of York have gone in like that. Seed potato, manure & then straw in the hole. International Kidney have been put in trenches, one row with the manure & straw other with nothing was getting two tired and also Hubby left quite a big gap between the trenches. I'm calling this a test to see what grows better haha Planning on growing some lettuces between to use the space. We will get one lot of second earlys in with these and main will have to go on the new plot. I'm just hoping that the light don't get to them and I haven't planted the Duke of Yorks too close together in rows.

Thats it for today may get more done Sunday.
